Recycle old hangers and panty hose into beautiful & unique fairy wings!

A few months ago I had made a photo tutorial detailing my experience making wings using hangers and hose, but the computer memory containing the data crashed. I still have a few tips and tricks in my memory, though!

Tips & Tricks

  • Use the thinnest metal hangers you can. Bending thick hangers is very difficult.
  • Use identical hangers of the same size, shape, thickness, and color. Otherwise, it will be difficult to give the wings a consistent look.
  • Glue glitter works great to add embellishments. You can also use acrylic paint to add decorations - or even change the color of your wings entirely!
  • If you use acrylic paint, remember that hose are very porous - the paint will probably seep through to the other side of your wings. So make sure you paint your wings on something that can get messy (newspaper, towels, etc) and keep this in mind while designing.
  • If you use acrylic paint, the wings will need an hour or so to dry. If both sides of the wings are wet, you will need to hang them up.
  • This craft, if done correctly, is very easy to finish.
  • The craft takes a long time to complete, though, so practice patience.

It's so exciting! Thank you!
